Here's the connection: A second FBI investigation into possible corruption at City Hall involves an alleged bribery attempt by mayoral aide Sia Lo in connection with a Hmong funeral home deal. The alleged bribery did not involve Cha Vang, but the Vang Pao Foundation, which Cha Vang heads, could purchase the new $3.2 million building when it is completed later this year. The project, on the city's West Side Flats, was made possible by $450,000 in taxpayer subsidies -- pollution cleanup grants arranged by the St. Paul Port Authority in cooperation with the mayor's office. > I do understand the issues related to General Vang. > However, I don't see the link that even suggests the > Mayor listened to the request or was even involved in > the planning of this trip. or for that matter, ever > receive the Vang request. Not suggesting that at all. I beleive I used the term 'administration'. I also used the term 'allegations'. So we still don't know who or what for sure. > Come on folks. its one thing to disagree with the > mayors position > on an issue. I'll thank you to let me speak on what I agree or disagree with the Mayor on. This was a post highlighting more allegations involving the administration. There are several positions I could point to that I may disagree with the Mayor on, that was not what this post was about. I know in this age of Bush II, some people accept our leaders dodging responsibility and accountability. It's about leadership. The people you surround yourself with tell us as much about your pritorities as the positions you push for. In politics, it only takes a scent of impropriety to become a major issue, leaders know this and act accordingly. Mayor Kelly seems clearly perplexed and angry over this issue, which leads me to beleive that its a shock or surprise to him. Still, if we are to beleive some of these allegations, someone in the adminstration needs to be taken to the tool shed. Someone.
