Not so! The noise made by a few trains a day (or even
one or two an hour) is miniscule compared to the
constant roar of a freeway. I live about a half-mile
from I-94 and the same distance from I-35E. The roar
from these freeways is very noticeable at all times of
the day and night. I don't know how people living
nearer to these highways stands the noise. There are
very busy railroad tracks not much farther away and
the occasional sound of the diesels and whistles is
far less noticeable and, most importantly, not a
constant, unrelenting presence.
