I live approximately 500 yards from a well used rail line in north minneapolis
and more than once a day my house shakes as the train goes by. it seems to be
worse in the winter. maybe it has to do with now leaves on the trees or
something.
no doubt freeways are noisy. i would think that the constant din from the
freeway would become commonplace and end up as background noise where a train
that goes by maybe once an hour or 3 times an hour, some times louder than
others dependant upon the load, could never become "background" noise.
