Dennis, David & others asking whether I think I exaggerated the breakdown of the DFL caucus system: I was simply reporting what my experience had been.
I am still open to reforming the party process and making it more inclusive to new people. I was even elected an alternate delegate to the city convention and I'm willing to give the process a try. I don't claim I am never wrong about something. I just simply try to articulate my position as best I can from my own experience, and open the way to others who might also feel that they want to challenge "business as usual" and explore new ways to do things.
I'm actually a consultant to organizations right now about this very issue (systems change), and I find that it doesn't work well for clients to pay me for telling them what they want to hear. I usually tell them what their employees are too scared to say out loud (because they have an interest in keeping their jobs and not wanting to rock the boat too much).
Have a great weekend, Cristy Highland Park
P.S. If anyone has a Wi-Fi enabled laptop computer that they would like to lend (or rent out cheaply) to a struggling new business person, please let me know. Renting a machine for $15/day (at the University) is too much and I can't yet afford one of my own.
