Do you mean Vice President Pawlenty? And when did he work for anyone other than Republicans, and Republican organizations? We seem to be becoming a farm system for Bush's ilk: Norm Coleman, Tim Pawlenty, and it is being hinted at, Randy Kelly. I remember being fairly negative about Dave Durenberger-- now I want to go over to his house and hug him for showing so much sensible compassion and clear, honest thinking that the rest of the wolf pack is so clearly lacking.
I'm sorry to sound like a crazed blogger, and I need to say that I'm thankful for this medium, and especially this forum for its potential to identify and prioritise issues that concern us. It can help us get and stay organised in pursuit of healthy, honest and effective government.
I have been learning to see former adversaries now as much more constructive and purposeful speakers. Maybe it has been their being out of the political circus, that demands constant campaigning, that has allowed them to actually see issues for themselves and speak their minds truly. Maybe they always saw things differently, and now they are able to say things that would have been censored by their party enforcers. Whatever. I do believe that some of these voices need to be embraced by us in the DFL and progressive movements because we will gain no ground with a deepening political antipathy towards all things Republican. ( I can't believe I said that! )
Of course, I do say this, and I still get enormous pleasure from seeing their feet of clay exposed and ridiculed. And if my heavy bag were really linked in some metaphysical way, the Republican right would have folded several rounds ago. But I am learning, slowly, that we have to embrace those that speak truth to power, especially as the power seems to be getting further and further from the common good.

Do we get it yet that Pawlenty is working for the national republican party,
not Minnesota?
