Interesting that this should come up today. I just ran across a remarkable
organizing guide at
_http://www.communitychange.org/issues/education/actionguide/_
(http://www.communitychange.org/issues/education/actionguide/)
which caused me to update a model on roles and responsibilities we've been
working on at NEAT. In adding "Local Governments" to the model, I was
reminded of the December conversation about Tax Increment Financing so I added
that
as an example at
_http://www.stpaulneat.org/LocalGovernment.html_
(http://www.stpaulneat.org/LocalGovernment.html)
with every intention to run it by the forum. Tried to be as
accurate/unbiased as possible. Can folks take a look and suggest changes?
Keep in mind the
page is about the role and responsibility of local government units (outside
of the school district) in supporting public education, not TIF which is
just provided as an example.
It would be good to have more examples (including county) and a healthy
conversation about processes and priorities.
Please know that I am leaving town in about an hour and won't be able to
respond to anybody till Monday. Thanks much!
