Many
times rightfully so, ie the floodwall.
Pointing out that the mayor has repeatedly and belligerently opposed
the general and local will of the constituents he was elected to serve
does not constitute "bashing", Mr Harris. If you recall, this is the
St Paul Issues Forum, and it is in place for exactly this kind of
expression.
I am not an activist. I do not work in
the public sector, have never worked on any campaign for any party. I
am not
trying to undermine any point of view with false accusations but since
you feel
I am, I trust you sent the same not to Diane who, AFAIK, falsely
accused the
mayor of bringing in the anti-choice/pro-life demonstrators when all
that has
happened is an anti-choice group was granted a permit for the same
space as
pro-choice peeps.
The apparent tone of your reply infers that you have an "activist"
inclination, Mr Harris, while the post by Diane Gerth was clearly
satiric. The bigger point to see here is that whether the mayor's
office "brought in" the anti-choice people or not isn't as much the
issue as is the obvious lack of good judgment in putting the two groups
in more or less direct contact on the sidewalk. Not to mention the many
months that have passed since the original permit was issued to Planned
Parenthood. THAT is something that the mayor's office is culpable for,
and should be called on. A buddy of mine is a cop in that neighborhood.
I can imagine how he felt when he found out about the intentional
juxtaposing of these two groups. Sensible pro-activity does not put
two antagonistic groups, like the JDL and the KKK for example, on the
same sidewalk.
If hate was too strong of a word then i take it back. It's more than
a simple
disagreement though.
It's words like "hate " that people (me, too...) need to use sparingly.
Once it's in the ring, it's in the fight and can't really be taken
back. Yes, it is more than a simple disagreement. It is about a bad way
to go about employing government and ideologies. It is utterly
important that we all are vigilant and actively engaged in identifying
and stopping these kinds of insidious abuses of governmental power.
