A lot of the on-the-ground organizing of this is coming from the St. Paul
Green Party, which has a commitment to supporting small, locally-owned
businesses.

Dear Independent Businesspeople and Concerned Citizens,

Please join the Metro Independent Business Alliance for our founding
meeting this Thursday! This is your chance to shape the membership
structure, dues, and bylaws for the first year of MIBA activities. It's
also your chance to meet folks from the 30+ businesses who have
expressed initial interest, and to sign up as a founding member of MIBA!

WHEN: Thursday, March 31 at 7pm
WHERE: Roseville Public Library
(2180 Hamline Ave N, Hamline Avenue and County Road B2)
AGENDA:
  * Introduce MIBA
  * Discuss and vote on bylaws
  * Discuss and vote on initial membership dues
  * Ask for volunteers to form a steering committee (to organize until
we elect an initial Board of Directors)
  * Officially sign up founding members!

More information about the meeting, including the draft bylaws proposal,
is available at: http://miba.idcwebdev.com

If you are unable to attend the meeting, but you would like your
thoughts included in the process, register comments at the MIBA
electronic forum: http://miba.idcwebdev.com/?q=forum

If you would like to become an official member, call Beth Bergman of Wet
Paint after March 31 to find out the dues rate passed at the meeting,
and where to send your check to. Proposed dues are $100 for businesses
and $50 for citizen members. Beth can be contacted at
[EMAIL PROTECTED] or 651-698-3978.

And don't forget to register an account at the MIBA website. As a
member, you can participate in the forums, suggest content, and create
your own web log on the site: http://miba.idcwebdev.com/?q=user/register

Hope to see you there!
