Board to fill vacant seat

The Saint Paul Board of Education has begun a process for filling the 
board seat vacated by former school board chair Toni Carter. Carter 
resigned her position after being elected to the Ramsey County Board of 
Commissioners in early March.

Those interested in serving on the Board of Education must submit their 
application materials, which include a letter of interest and a resume, by 
the first week of May.
 
The board expects to name a new member by June 15.

The Saint Paul Board of Education is comprised of seven members who 
represent all of Saint Paul. The board is responsible for the care, 
management and control of the school district.

NOTICE OF BOARD OF EDUCATION VACANCY
With the resignation of Board Member Toni Carter, a vacancy now exists on 
the Saint Paul Public Schools Board of Education.
 
The SPPS Board of Education invites St. Paul residents interested in 
serving on the School Board to submit a letter of interest and a resume. 
Interested parties should be knowledgeable about Saint Paul Public Schools 
and/or governance. Applicants should not intend to be a candidate for the 
office in the November 2005 election. The Board of Education encourages 
all persons representative of the diversity of the community to apply, and 
especially invites applicants of underrepresented groups. 

The term of office for this interim appointment will expire on January 2, 
2006. 

Qualified applicants will be expected to participate in a public interview 
to be conducted by the Board at a special meeting in May.
