FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

STONEWALL DFL ELECTS NEW BOARD OF DIRECTORS, PRESENTS ALLAN SPEAR AWARD
Additional endorsements for Minneapolis races also announced.

(Saint Paul, MN) April 21, 2005 - In honor of nationally known political
pioneer and Minnesota's first elected official to come out of the
closet, Stonewall DFL presented the Allan Spear Award to Alan Hooker and
Jill Schwimmer for their service and dedication to the GLBT community
and the DFL Party at its annual membership meeting this past weekend.

Hooker and Schwimmer both have long histories of service to Stonewall
DFL and, most recently, served as Chair and Associate Chair. Their
leadership was instrumental in reinvigorating Stonewall DFL and
increasing its profile within the community and the DFL. Both Hooker
and Schwimmer have announced candidacy for Minneapolis city-wide races.

The caucus membership elected Paul Skrbec to lead the organization as
Chair; Linnea Anderson to serve as Associate Chair; Del Jenkins was
elected Secretary; Andy Hauer was re-elected as Treasurer and Miguel
Gallegos was elected Affirmative Action Officer.

"It is really remarkable to see such growth in our organization" said
Skrbec. "Community outreach and increasing the diversity of our board
has been a major focus for the past year. Diversity helps to ensure that
more viewpoints get introduced in the political process, regardless of
our backgrounds."

Members also elected this year's at-large members of the board. Tim
Bonham, Joe Carlile, Alan Hooker, Matt Klaber, Jill Schwimmer were
re-elected. Nancy Bernard, Sue Campbell and Holly Dolezalek were
welcomed as new at-large members.

In its final meeting before the election of new officers, the board of
directors voted to endorse Cara Letofsky in the Ward 2 City Council
race; they endorsed Mary Merrill Anderson and found John Lily and Meg
Forney acceptable in the Parks Board At-Large race; awarded acceptable
ratings to Tracy Nordstrom and Christine Hanson in the District 4 Parks
Board contest and to Jill Schwimmer for the Board of Estimate and
Taxation.

As an officially chartered caucus of the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party
of Minnesota, Stonewall DFL is Minnesota's first political organization
