Well, team, we are being monitored in city hall. I got a call today
from a very appologetic Matt Reinartz regarding America in Bloom. He
assured me the meeting today is not a private affair and the fact that
Mayor Kelly sent a personal letter inviting some people to the meeting
did not mean the Mayor had anything to do with it. He assured me this
was not a political photo op which could be construed as part of the
re-election effort. Rather, this is a project initiated by Bob
Biersheid and all are welcome to come.

America in Bloom is a national 501.c3 which promotes community
involvement and heritage preservation. (Visit their website. Actually
it is quite cumbersome and you have to have unlimited patience!) There
is a St. Paul application form which citizens who wish to participate
can complete. I could not figure out how to send it along but you can
contact Matt at [EMAIL PROTECTED] and he will happily send
it to you.

America in Bloom will send a team of judges to Saint Paul July 12, 13
and 14. The judges will take a tour of various projects. There seems
to be a strong emphasis on volunteerism.

Now, since this is a campaign year, the question is, how does one
participate in America in Bloom without participating in the Kelly
Campaign? I am sincere here. I have received no help of any kind from
this administration for my community gardens, not that I asked for any!
But, I would still greatly resent any implication that my community
gardening efforts, which significantly pre-date this administration, are
a tribute to the current administration. All suggestions welcome.
