John:
Did you see Randy Kelly's state of the city address?
It included:
* Two opening prayers by two beautiful children
* the national anthem (of course)
* the federal government's head bureaucrat on homelessness praising Kelly's work in this area
* the archbishop favorably comparing Randy Kelly to Mother Teresa
* Randy Kelly sharing credit with the city council and praising his opponents for all their hard work
* a candle-lighting ceremony at the end, while the angels sang
You get the picture.
This race is being set up between the gracious, compassionate and very religious democrat and the "progressive" democrat (with all its implied baggage that turns off moderates). Good God! Who would YOU vote for?
LOL
Maybe I'll run for mayor afterall and pick off the normal people.

Subject: [StPaul] Sad day for St Paul
Ok the endorsement process is over, and unfortunately the man most likely not to win was endorsed. SO here comes 4 more years of Randy Kelly. If I didn't still have deep ties to the city I would be laughing at the DFL for picking Chris Coleman to be their nominee....
SO besides Chris, and Randy who else would a person in St Paul have an opportunity to vote for in the primary? If I was still living and voting there, I would be looking for a third choice... sorry can not hold my nose when I cast my vote and say well this is the better of two evils (evils are evils) and cast my vote.
Mark the words May 2nd, 2005 Chris Coleman will become Mayor only if Randy dies of a heart attack (or laughing at Chris's campaign).
Maybe it would be better for the DFL if they picked their candidates like they pick a new pope. You know lock up a certain number of high ranking party officials and then ring the bells when they have selected the Chosen one... Sure wouldn't hurt to try.
