Really? Ok, then I will. And I will include sex, gender or sexual
orientation in there too.
And of course you never support anyone based solely on any criteria. I only
support liberal democrats. Then I look to see if they are a woman, person of
color, glbt, and/or disabled and I give them preference. Why? Because I think
these voices need to be heard in our government organizations and if we don't
start putting them there they won't be heard.
I believe our state and local government should be representative of our
communities. When I walk into the capital or city hall it should be like
walking into the Target on University. I should be able to go down one hallway
and hear Somalian people talking. Turn the corner and see two men holding
hands. Walk into a room and see a group of Hmong. And see as many women
lawmakers as there are men. Dare to dream.
