Tim has worked to make E-Democracy a sort of League of Women Voters for the
21st Century.

I'd like to second this. For me, and perhaps others, Tim has been a role
model for "soft-spoken" leadership. He has spent countless volunteer hours
facilitating the conversation because (I think) he genuinely believes the
technology provides a new venue for genuine civic engagement.

A lot of what's driving the economy and education reform is the need to
think and do things differently in the "brave new world" of 21st Century
Technology. I think we should be proud that Saint Paul is becoming an
international
role model for using technology to promote respectful, thoughtful civic
engagement (as evidenced by Tim's new role). I think Tim deserves the credit
for
building an online community that not only provides opportunities for
learning, but also has demonstrated the capacity to effect positive change.
