I'm not sure the torque spec on that sucker, but ratchets really
aren't made for high torque applications. I'm surprised the thing
bent before the ratchet mechanism broke.
To date, I've never broken a Craftsman tool, though I thought the rear
axle nuts on my '73 Beetle were going to cost me a trip to Sears to
replace my breaker bar. The axle nuts are torqued to 250 ft. lbs. I
soaked them in Deep Creep, got out the trusty 1/2" breaker and 3'
cheater pipe and after close to an hour of expletives, tugging,
pulling, pushing, jumping, more cussing, finally got the first one
off. The breaker bar flexed, but never bent or broke. Had a friend
bring an air compressor and impact wrench to do the second.
I've since bought an air compressor and impact of my own, though I can
see a higher torque spec impact in my not-so-distant future.

I'm sure they get all sorts of weirdness there. I'd love to see that
trophy wall.

They'd rather you go to the stealership to get the wheels off. Or get
your oil changed. Or anything else people could do at home if they
gave it even a modicum of effort.
