Sad.

He got way into pseudoscience and sheer vindictiveness (making a  
critic into a not-even-thinly disguised child-rapist in a novel is  
pretty nasty <http://tinyurl.com/6oxceb>) at the end, but "Andromeda  
Strain" is still one of my favorite books of all time, and "Jurassic  
Park" is a cracking good read.

The original "Andromeda Strain" movie was good, too. Not so much the  
last remake, imo, and it is now SOP for Velociraptors to get loose in  
buildings and hunt people. (even if they weren't really Velociraptors  
but Utahraptors in the movie...)

(See the last episode of "Primeval" on BBC America if you can the  
whole series is pretty good.)
