Any time staff goes into the theater during the day, they're wearing those Late Show Letter Jackets. I used to think it was some sort of team spirit, show biz, show off kind of thing. Then I was invited to take some time off to listen to Alanis Morrisette rehearse and discovered for myself. By the way, that theater has, (or had) a truly fantastic sound system. Tickets are free for that evening's show to anybody that's waiting in line for them outside the theater. They hired me as a freelance graphic artist from MacTemps (remember them? now Aquent) They'd come in and hand over a couple descriptions of what they wanted and I made props for them, like book covers etc, for the throw away gags he does. Worldwide Pants and my agency couldn't work out the terms to hire me so I kept on keeping on. It would have been nice to be on staff. Sittin around with a nice coffee and then about three feverish hours of work and then sittin around waiting to see, is there anything else? Then listen to the show on the PA. Home for an early evening. For a while I had the script books for each show I worked but gave them away when I moved out here. And eventually I "ahem" outgrew the t-shirt they gave me.
