Are you so so enslaved by Hollywood that you refuse to consider the 
efforts of independent producers ?
The subject matter is about the same.
You did understand what the relationship with the neighbor and "Tammy" 
in Fido was all about, right ?
Is the problem the amount of money behind the production ?
The soundtrack ?
Is it a conceit against hookers ?
While Fido dealt with the undead in a polite suburban society, Grub Girl 
deals with a similar topic in a grittier urban context.
whassa difference besides a hipper soundtrack and higher production values ?
