There are lot's of wild turkeys in Marin County, John. In fact, they've become quite a pest. You might be able to trap one and pluck a few feathers before turning them loose. And no, they aren't worth spit as food, unless you have a pressure cooker and good sharp teeth. Watch out for those toms.
