apparently it will six years or more before the asparagus fern and
bitu bush
stop coming up and the morning glory even longer essentially that
means constant vigilance

we are not planting nursery plants as it is such an old rainforest
remnant it is genetically
different from other spots  so we are just trying to grow the already
fallen seed

i would like to try seed from the edges if we don't get diversity

but apparently even that is not 'best practice'

the poisoning was done by the local council .. i don't agree with it

their theory is that if one poison doesn't work they will try another
then another

of course that wont work on the aspidistra etc ... they have to be dug
up ... poison just seems
to kill the leaves which encourages the rhizomes to send up new leaves
and the flowers to seed

then more eternal vigilance
