For those in northern California that like clean rivers for recreation and despise corporate agriculture (sediment creating ridgetop Redwood timber conversion to vineyards), then consider donating to this group dedicated to restoring and saving the Gualala River:

For a convincing photograph of the widespread harm caused by the clear cutting this unique river that follows the San Andreas Fault, see: <http://www.gualalariver.org/tour/default.html> Note the sandbars below each clear cut. That river used to be chock full 'o salmon, and the town of Gualala used to attract fisherman that included Governors, Senators and Hollywood actors. There's a picture of Fred with a big smile holding a string of massive steelhead in front of the Gualala Hotel. The river is just now recovering from the clear cutting done after the 1906 SF earthquake to rebuild the city. I'd hate to see the big step backwards it would take in siltation and reduced water flows as a result of allowing another 17,000 acres or so of conversion.
