I don't have the Bamboo tablet, but the more expensive one (Intuos 2 or something like that). I have not tried handwriting but have done some pretty intricate/wiggly drawing with it. I used Illustrator and the pencil tool. Text laid in with the normal text tool, then anything you want with the tablet as an overlay. Save it as a PDF. But I'm not sure I answered your question.
