Time to remove the ideologues and put some folks in charge that know how to get people back to work. It should now be clear that stimulus spending, bailouts and outrageous growth in the size a power of the federal government doesn't work. It's time to try the tried and true methods of less government spending and a smaller public sector, lower taxes and fewer regulations to stimulate growth in the private sector. Get folks back to work, which will increase government revenues and stabilize the real estate market. And adopt a realistic energy policy, too. One that relies on the Arabs running out of oil first doesnt' cut it any more. Eliminate all energy subsidies and tax breaks. Increase development of domestic fossil fuel sources (where risks are lower and tax breaks for development aren't justified). And just for shitz-n-giggles, eliminate all agricultural subsidies, too. The only ones that benefit are the corporate farmers like ADM and Weyerhaeuser at the expense of the family farms they were supposed to save. Those subsidies far outweigh the money spent on NPR, NEA and Planned Parenthood we so like to lock horns over.
