It never fails to amaze me when nominally intelligent, aware people fall for
these transparently fraudulent schemes, cheerfully allying themselves with
dictators or thieves.

Since we manage the mail servers we see lots of these come through.

There aren't many of them claiming to be family members of ousted brutal
dictators anymore, they're split between the 'I am dying of cancer and want you
to spread my fortune to the needy' , 'I am a bank employee, and a depositor
with a huge balance has died without heirs, and I want your help to steal it '
(and I've seen it put as baldly as that) and the 'I am an American Soldier in
[Iraq|Afghanistan] with $65 Millions (US) that I need your help smuggling out
of the country.' versions.
