Depressing.

There's a similar problem in California's "fire alleys." Developers cut back 
the native vegetation to meet Calfire requirements. But that native vegetation 
is fire-resistant, and tend to get replaced with highly flammable invasive 
species. Pretty bad planning, I say.

Of course, the solution is fairly simple. Stop building (or rebuilding) in 
natural fire alleys. Let it the invasives burn, then replant with native 
fire-resistant brush.

Maybe you dan borrow some pink underwear inmates from Sheriff Joe to help out. 
Hell, get all the inmate you have pulling grass.
