On why public union membership dropped after the Walker reforms: "Many never wanted to join a union in the first place. Others were repelled by the authoritarian, belligerent, and left-wing political culture that entrenched unionism so often embodies." And why Walker won: "Voters watched — and learned." Yes, they learned that the reforms had a positive effect. They also learned the dangers of combining collective bargaining with government jobs. I hope the author's conclusion is correct -- The end is near for public sector unions.
