My iPad suffered a catastrophic tumble from the top of our car, mid-vacation* and I further managed to destroy the wifi-antenna getting the broken glass off. Well , ~$100+ later and five or six hours of painstaking surgery, the patient seems to have lived with no lasting ill effects other than some scrapes and a dent in the aluminum. Whew, never again. This is crazy-ass tetchy work. My frikkin Home button is ever so slightly crooked, and it's going to annoy the crap outta me from now on...when iFixit says this is 'extremely difficult', they ain't lying. *richardsan witnessed the tragedy...yes, he and I (and Alison, our idiot dogs, and the ever-charming elfettes) met in meatspace, in his secret above-ground lair to plot socialist destruction of the economy, stroll the beach, and eat good food and drink some beer; he is a gracious host and lives in a charming and thoroughly delightful place on earth.
