I once tried to map out a trip via Amtrack to the Pacific NW (which should be a 
majorly cool scenic ride), and  gave up because Amtracks arcane online 
scheduling lead me to the belief that I simply couldn't get there from here.

Then we watch Rick Steves talking on PBS "Trains are always handy and cheap 
ways of travelling", and despair that we're not evil commie soshulists like 
Europe.
