straight from the audio out. i don't mind the occasional alarm beep jolt or poot that get's captured...;) i had to verify this, and captured a bit of music from my MBP itunes lib., sent the file to the imac and it sounded tinny. swapped the speakers from the imac to the MBP. the captured sound file is tinny and the "live" version from itunes plays correctly. it sounds equally crappy on celia's machine...the file is not good. captured via QT 10, plays badly QT7 and 10. to me it seems like the sound is being taken directly from the tiny speakers, whereas maybe [before some update] it was taken before that output...if that makes any sense...i also used to use wire tap pro. i still have files produced from it, but the app has disappeared.
