OS X 10.9 is available. And it's free to anyone who can run App store (10.6.8 or better.) DL'ing it now. Very very very slowly…Supposedly this one will make my newish MBA run a week on some spit and sunshine, clear up my acne and make my farts smell of unicorns. Once I got it downloaded, installed and running, I had some other tasks that took me about a half hour, then turned to the updated Mac to do some testing on our network, in particular our problematic SAN, which has some weird-ass issue with Windows DFS shares that meant Macs using DFS would be denied access the first few times they tried connecting. (DFS is Windows technology for basically making ‘aliases’ for network volumes so you can maintain what the end user sees ‘accounting dept’ while being able to move the actual storage location in the background to different servers, etc). Well Apple fixed it. I can no longer connect to our DFS shares at all, and locked my account trying. Within ten minutes of me figuring this out (and note, this is about 3:30 our time, 10.9 has been available for all of two hours) the first person comes to our door ‘I can’t connect to the VPN or workgroups with 10.9’. -- Bruce Johnson "Wherever you go, there you are" B.
