Jim Demint, that leading light of the intellectual powerhouse Heritage Foundation, says that the US Federal Government had no role in freeing the slaves. After all..."People like [William] Wilberforce who persisted for years because of his faith and because of his love for people. " Let's just slide right past the point that William Wilberforce had no actual connection to the US, that he accomplished his anti-slavery aims via his membership in the English Parliament, which last I heard was some sort of part of the British Government, and who died nearly thirty years before the start of the Civil War, which according to DeMint was apparently some sort of private enterprise thing. Remember, this man was a US Senator, one of 200 elite men and women chosen by the voters to run our government. Soon, I fear he will be extolling the virtues of Brawndo for irrigation purposes. -- Bruce Johnson University of Arizona College of Pharmacy Information Technology Group Institutions do not have opinions, merely customs -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "StrataList-OT" group.
