I've been working on that Badwater shot for years, ever since it was taken. I just couldn't get it to look the way I wanted. Even my Photoshop mentor tried with me a couple of times and gave up on it. The tubes were a fortuitous accident. We just happened to be driving past them, on a road rarely taken, at just the right time of day for the sunlight to be shinning down them and for once, I was not doing the driving and caught the glimmer inside them out the corner of my eye as we sped past at 60MPH. I had dad stop and turn back so we could photograph them. Plus, the software I used to process them, Perfect Effects 8, is being given away for free. It's normally $99. I just got the email with the link yesterday so I downloaded it and was playing with it on the Death Valley shot when Dad called to ask if I wanted to go on a photo expedition.
