We bought a Frigidaire freezer that has a little weirdness in the user interface.
At first, we plugged it in and pushed a button on the front door. Next day I notice the little panel says 0F which I take to mean ZERO degrees Fahrenheit. Next week, we got delivery of a quarter of a steer to go inside. I wanted to prepare the freezer for a new large load, so I press the EXTREME FREEZE button. This is meant to accommodate the extra cold needed to get a large bunch of stuff down to freezing. After a couple days I pushed the button to raise the temperature back up to 0F which I took to be adequate. It sticks at -17 and I can't find the manual. So I leave it until I can. A couple weeks go by and I uncover the manual in a pile of papers. I look for the instructions to tell me how to get back to 0F. Interesting . . . This freezer has a Sabbath mode so orthodox Jews can turn off all electrical activity for the Sabbath. Wow, I think. This control panel must have some fancy capabilities if they went to the trouble of accommodating people's religious beliefs in the user interface. I turn the page again and discover that 0F is NOT ZERO DEGREES Fahrenheit at all. 0F has nothing to do with my religious beliefs or lack thereof. And it has nothing to do with the English language. No. 0F on a Frigidaire Freezer bought in the age of cars that drive themselves . . . 0F means OFF. What kind of appliance design engineer would create a Sabbath mode but not a proper notification that your freezer is not freezing anything? -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "StrataList-OT" group.
