My configuration was:

<servlet-name>StripesDispatcher</servlet-name>
<dispatcher>REQUEST</dispatcher>
<dispatcher>FORWARD</dispatcher>
</filter-mapping>
adding <dispatcher>ERROR</dispatcher> fixes it!
I remember that adding <dispatcher>INCLUDE</dispatcher> to the
StripesDispatcher was giving me some errors in a previous project, but I
don't remember why anymore, maybe due to Sitemesh...
