I had similar problems a while back.

Try defining component in second layout as

${child-content}
Instead of <stripes:layout-component name="child-content"/>

Subject: [Stripes-users] Nested layout question

Hi all,

I'm trying to use 'nested layout' example in the stripes website to extend a
layout. What I have is:

----------
parent layout (stdLayout.jsp)
<stripes:layout-definition>
...
<stripes:layout-component name="page-contents"/>
...

</stripes:layout-definition>
----------
child layout (view-base.jsp)

<stripes:layout-definition>
    <stripes:layout-render name="/WEB-INF/jsp/layout/stdLayout.jsp">
          <stripes:layout-component name="page-contents">

             blalblalba some thing in the child..

              <!-- note that i'm adding a layout component in the child layout
-->
              <stripes:layout-component name="child-content"/>

          </stripes:layout-component>
    </stripes:layout-render>

</stripes:layout-definition>

---------
example.jsp

<stripes:layout-render name="/WEB-INF/jsp/layout/view-base.jsp">
        <stripes:layout-component name="child-content">
                something in the example page
        </stripes:layout-component>
</stripes:layout-render>
--------------

The result (when I render example.jsp) is simply the child-layout contents,
disregarding the content in example.jsp. i.e. instead of:

---------------
blalblalba some thing in the child..
something in the example page
---------------

it simply had:

--------------
blalblalba some thing in the child..
--------------

Could someone explain this behavior? Is this a bug in Stripes?

Thanks in advance for the help!
