Why cant you use <stripes:select> tag for combo?
<stripes:select name="mc.doctor" style="width:267px">
<stripes:option value="-1">Select</stripes:option>
<stripes:options-collection
collection="${actionBean.allDoctors}" label="name" value="name"/>
</stripes:select>
The method "allDoctors" has to be a member of your action class.
