I haven't dug into Validator myself yet, so I won't be very effective there.

Yes, I can do that. I'd prefer to see some progress on, or at least some
rough estimates for, the outstanding Validator bugs before I put an updated
release plan up for vote, though, so that the proposed freeze/tag date is
realistic.

A couple of questions:

1) What versions do we want to build against for, and include in, Beta 2? Do
we want to build from CVS HEAD of the various Commons components, use the
latest nightlies, or use releases where appropriate? (Actually, I think the
only packages that we could depend on current releases for are Collections,
Digester(?) and Pool.) [My opinion: CVS HEAD]

2) What do people think about the timing of migrating to Commons Resources?
Should we do this before or after Beta 2? Now that it's included in the
build, it's kinda tempting to go ripping out the Struts specific stuff and
replacing it with the Commons stuff. But perhaps it would be better to hold
off until we have a solid Beta 2 out the door? [My opinion: After Beta 2,
unless the outstanding Validator bugs are going to take a while to fix.]

Finally, I would like to ask the committers to take a look through the
release notes here:

http://jakarta.apache.org/struts/userGuide/release-notes.html

and make sure that all their post-b1 changes have been included.
