What were your thoughts on JSTL EL validator rule?
You commented on BSF and OGNL, but not the JSTL EL validator rule, which I
actually wrote. The others just seem like a good idea.
Sorry, For not commenting on that. I agree that a JSTL EL expression makes sense.
For now struts 1.X is still JSP 1.1 based:
1) Assuming the other committers agree, and I like what I see, add the tag to the contrib folder.
If this tag targets JSP 2.0 then it would need to go into it's own folder.
2) Donate the tag to the struts.sf.net site.

At some point Struts 1.5.X, wildly pulling number out of air, or so --may-- go to 1.2/2.3 specs.
I believe this because there is now talk of basing Struts 2.X on JSP 2.0. This spec
is even further way from general adoption than 1.2/2.3, so I believe it would be better
to start the move in the 1.5 time frame.
OR...
Do abopt JSP 1.2/2.3 in the Struts 2.X series and JSP 2.0 in Struts 3.X series. </speculation>
