Why was this bug marked wontfix ?

Are there better alternatives for converting from text to java objects ?

Being locale aware is a real issue to me (I also have issues the other way round
: I found no way to specify a formatter on html:text and the like to convert
numbers using appropriate formatting).

Stutz's proposed solution does not seem right however : a new
LocaleBeanUtils.populate(bean, properties, locale) method shoud be created to
remain thread safe.
