Personally, I would call this a new feature, and so appropriate for the
1.1 nightly-build branch but not the 1.0.x fixes-only branch.
I haven't had a chance to test these changes myself, but if Martin or
Oleg wanted to commit them to the 1.1 tree, I would have no objection.
