The airplane notes are getting closer -- I need to review the lengthy
discussions over the last few weeks as well.

Well, I did the changes for beanutils/collections/digester already (and
uncovered an incompatibility that will get fixed in the next round of the
commons digester -- in the mean time, you must call
setNamespaceAware(true)).
How about you making sure that the Commons DBCP and POOL packages are
release-worthy, and going ahead and releasing them? Then, we can modify
Struts 1.1 to rely on this, and deprecate
GenericDataSource/GenericConnection. Note that we cannot remove these
classes yet, because they were not deprecated in 1.0.
