I've had excellent luck with MySQL. But if it is properly written,
changing DBMS's shouldn't be heart-breaking ;-) What I would really like
to try sometime is being able to load SQL commands from a resource, as
Struts does for messages.

Meanwhile ... I've been doing a lot of work with apply the general
Helper-DAO-VO patterns to Struts. I'll have a generic article ready
soon. I'd love to see if it can be adopted to jBoss and EJB's )my
current development projects don't require an applications).

I'm also working with Ravi Ramaiah on a code generator for Stuts, and
again would like to see a J2EE path available form the git-go. There's
an early version on More About Struts, but it doesn't address generating
DBMS code. Let me know if you are interested in anything along these
lines, and I'll keep you posted.

Well, since you mentioned it ;-), Richard and Nicola asked me to write a
couple of a chapters in another book. The offer on the table is $1300
for
each chapter, in the 30-60 page range, and a $300 on-time bonus for
both.
The subjects coincide with a development project I'm working on now, so
I'm considering it. I apologize if this is an awkward question, but I
wondered, confidentially, if this matched what they offered you, and if
you had any experience negotiating with Nicola. I don't see that this
type of dicussion between us is covered by the NDA, and, well, we are
talking commerce here ;-) ...

Please feel free to ignore this part altogether if you like.
No harm, no foul.
