Ah! Well, I looked over some of their code (their docs are pretty sparse) & it seems that they have the situation under control ;-) It appears they have both connection pooling and transparent reconnect (implemented?), i couldn't find any docs regarding the state of those features though. I still kinda like my pseudo-jdbc interface in terms of cleanliness of usage. hmm... well, thanks for your time, keep up the great work!
