My understanding was that a code freeze date meant Martin could
cut the beta release after that deadline.
My suggestion would be that we give everyone the weekend to try
and batten down the hatches, and then vote on a proposed code
freeze date on Monday (which could even be Monday if everyone
active votes).
But I am personally not going to vote to release another beta
until at least the issues Martin has marked as *must have* for 1.1
final (and those I checked out (mea culpa)) are resolved. The
shortest route to 1.1 final will be to avoid a beta 4, and that
means no known show-stoppers.
If we can make a concerted effort this weekend, and get the
critical issues properly resolved, hopefully we could go to a
short beta 3 and then ship this. But any dangling issues will just
lead to another beta cycle and further delay the final release.
Happily, my holiday shopping is done, so I can hunker down and
help get this out. =:0)
