Is there a reason why your custom RequestProcessor can't subclass
TilesRequestProcessor? 

There is a known limitation if you need functionality from two (or more)
RequestProcessor implementations. There is currently no easy way to achieve that. 

Work is underway to re-architect Struts request handling using a command chain
which would be more flexible and avoid this problem, but I'm marking the
immediate problem as "won't fix".
