I'd like to add my two cents worth to this topic.

Whilst generally speaking, I am a "from the command prompt" type of person;
I actually have to admit I like JBuilder for general web application
development.

We have just upgraded to JBuilder version 5 Enterprise edition and I
actually find it very useful to have an environment where I can develop/test
a web application without deploying to a separate web server each time.

I guess it also depends on your level of HTML - For anything fancy I use an
external HTML editor and cut/paste the code in.

I also use ANT for deployment, and use AntRunner which provides me with
effectively (once configured) a one-click deployment button - Very good for
lazy people like me!

Others mileage may vary, but it certainly works for me.

In closing, I concur with Renzo's comments about ram; the more ram you have
the better, and 256Mb is a good start. I've got 512Mb.

Cheers

Tim

Hi David,

I like JBuilder for developing classes and javabeans, but it's *not* very
usefull for jsp's. You may want to check out JRun Studio for that. Also do
have 256M in your developement machine, you'll need it ;(

If you need specifics, please ask me.

Cheers,

Renzo

Hi

I'm looking to develop a struts based database portal using JBuilder Pro 5
as my development environment - does anyone have any experience of this
combination and if so, any hints ant tips on configuration would be helpful.

cheers
