WebLogic service packs

I am looking to use struts to develop a number of applications running under WebLogic 5.1 with Service Pack 6. The struts documentation states that service pack 8 is required for WL 5.1. Does anyone know if struts will work with sp6. We cannot upgrade to sp 8 or 9 for certain reasons!!!
