html:button and onclick - doesn't work

Does anyone know why this works:

<html:submit styleClass="inputButtonNormal" onclick="submitForm('Reset')">
     Click me
</html:submit>

BUT this doesn't?

<html:button styleClass="inputButtonNormal" onclick="submitForm('Reset')">
     Click me
</html:button>
