That's a good idea. The only issue that I can think of is that you'll be dependent on 1.4, since the logging API isn't available to previous SDKs. Something like log4j is available to 1.1 and above. There's no reason that I can think of why anyone wouldn't use the latest version of the SDK, but I'm not sure everyone will switch immediately.
