Poolman won't replace the thin client it'll just sit on top of it. One benefit of Poolman is the ability to switch database drivers very easily. All it takes is a mod to Poolman's xml file and the driver itself. We've been using Poolman for about 6 months now and at first we were using JTurbo connecting to a SQL Server database. A couple of months later we switched to Oracle's thin client connecting to an Oracle database and it only took a matter of minutes to implement the change.
